Notes from a quiet week

Tulips opened overnight. I finished the Le Guin and started the Berger. The kettle whistled three times before I noticed. Some weeks the small things are enough — in fact, they are often the whole point.

Monday

Rain all morning. Reread the opening of The Dispossessed and remembered why I love it: the wall, the function of the wall, the fact that it depends which side you are looking from.

Wednesday

Tulips opened overnight. I had forgotten I planted them. A small, unearned gift.

Friday

Started Berger’s Ways of Seeing again. The kettle whistled three times before I noticed. Sometimes that is what a week is for.
